Service & Calibration
Why is a service essential?
As a general rule, an annual service visit is recommended for infrequent use of aw meters and six monthly service for meters that are used everyday with heavy usage.
Water activity meters should be serviced regularly to ensure continued accuracy, reliability, and compliance. Over time, sensors can drift or degrade due to environmental exposure, affecting measurement precision and consistency.
Regular servicing by qualified engineers recalibrates the instrument to factory standards using certified reference materials, providing traceable documentation that supports ISO 17025, BRCGS, and HACCP quality systems.
Preventive maintenance also helps detect early signs of sensor wear, replace desiccants, and clean internal components—extending instrument life and reducing downtime. Regular servicing ensures your results remain accurate, repeatable, and fully audit-ready, giving you complete confidence in every reading.
Benefits of regular servicing:
- Necessary adjustments made to ensure optimum functionality.
- Replacement of sensor protective filters for continued reliability and drift free calibration.
- Repairs of minor breakages / damage.
- Cleaning of instrument.
- Calibration salt capsules condition check - renew or recalibrate to UKAS standards as required.
- Consultation with end-user and provide training as required.
- Replacement of sensor cells - recommended on 5 yearly basis.
- Validation of end-user's own calibration to ensure accuracy
